International Law

In shaping the trajectory of humanity towards a more harmonious and equitable future, the WSandN will alongside upholding existing international laws but is aims towards creating new international laws to address various global challenges with the goals of promoting global peace, equity, development, human rights, poverty eradication, preservation of lives and environment among others. This is rooted in the recognition that the challenges faced by humanity are not confined to national borders and  emphasizes the need for a coordinated and inclusive approach to address global issues that affect all nations.

This concept of creating new international laws entails the deliberate and thoughtful construction of legal frameworks that transcend subnational/national boundaries and promote cooperation among nations and subnational regions. Through this process, countries and subnational entities come together to negotiate, draft, and ratify treaties and conventions that address pressing issues faced by humanity as a whole. Through this, we create a platform open to everyone for dialogue, compromise, and collective action, fostering a sense of shared responsibility and a commitment to the common good. The WSandN will initiate and engage in diplomatic negotiations, legal analysis, and consensus-building to develop legal frameworks that reflect the shared values and aspirations of people and nations, and by actively participating in the process, countries and subnational entities demonstrate their commitment to upholding human rights, promoting peace, and fostering sustainable development. This concept serves as a catalyst for progress, enabling nations to work together towards a more just and prosperous world.

Specifically, laws that promote global peace help in preventing conflicts and fostering diplomatic relations between countries. Equity-focused laws ensure that marginalized groups are not discriminated against and have equal opportunities for growth and development. Legislation aimed at human rights protection safeguards the dignity and well-being of individuals, ensuring that their basic rights are respected and upheld. Laws targeting poverty eradication help in addressing the root causes of economic disparities and provide support to those in need, lifting them out of poverty and empowering them to lead better lives.

Promoting Global Peace and Security

These new laws will be used to advance peaceful dispute resolution mechanisms such as negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and adjudication, in order to resolve conflicts in a way that is fair and impartial and reduce the risks of escalation to violence. By providing a forum for the peaceful resolution of disputes, these new international laws will help to prevent conflicts from spiraling out of control and spreading beyond local or national borders, thereby contributing to the maintenance of global peace and security in all states and regions of the world.

International laws and treaties have played a crucial role in promoting peaceful resolutions of conflicts throughout history. The Geneva Conventions for instance, establish the standards of humanitarian law during armed conflicts. These conventions have been instrumental in protecting the rights of civilians, prisoners of war, and other vulnerable individuals during times of war. Unfortunately this cannot stopped wars or violent conflicts from springing up in various parts of the world.

The United Nations Charter emphasizes the peaceful settlement of disputes and prohibits the use of force, but goes ahead to allow methods of wars in various cases and when authorized by the UN Security Council. Through its various mechanisms, such as mediation, negotiation, and arbitration, the UN has been able to facilitate peaceful resolutions in numerous conflicts around the world. This is laudable and have been effective to some extent but fails to deal with the fundamental causes of war. This has resulted in various invasions in various nations as well as other civil wars, genocides and proliferation of terrorism.

Additionally, the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC)  commendably aims to end impunity for the most serious crimes of international concern, such as genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity. By establishing a permanent international court, the Rome Statute contributes to the peaceful resolution of conflicts by holding individuals accountable for their actions and deterring future atrocities and ensuring that those responsible for grave crimes are brought to trial and victims are given a voice.

While all these efforts have yielded positive results they have not succeeded in bringing the issue of war to a stop, this is exactly what the WSandN stands to address for the purpose of preserving lives, infrastructures, environment and economic growth. Human rights and the dignity of human live are grossly violated in any state of violence, war or terror.  The Global Peace Agreement coupled with other new laws and treaties that would be initiated will ensure the elimination and prohibition of war, violence and terrorism on a global scale, while championing ADR mechanisms as only acceptable methods for local and international dispute resolutions.

The WSandN pays keen attention to the implementation of stronger enforcement mechanisms which is essential, to uphold the integrity and credibility of international law. By creating new enforcement tools and strengthening existing ones, the international community can better deter violations and hold accountable those who fail to comply with their obligations under international law. This will help maintain order and stability in the global arena.

Promoting Equity, Human Rights and Tackling Poverty

The WSandN through international laws and policies promote equity worldwide and address economic disparities, recognizing the importance of economic development and the need to bridge the gap between developed and developing nations. We want International trade agreements, to be aimed at promoting fair and equitable trade practices, ensuring that all nations have access to markets and resources on equitable terms. These new legal frameworks will be used to address pressing issues such as poverty, infrastructure, access to education, agriculture, food security, healthcare and industry among others aiming to create a more equitable distribution of resources and opportunities for everyone. In addressing poverty on a global scale the WSandN provide a framework for cooperation among nations to combat economic disparities and promote sustainable development. Through various equitable treaties, conventions, and agreements, subnational entities and countries are obligated to take concrete actions to alleviate poverty and improve the well-being of their citizens through the various economic growth programs offered available without mortgaging the future of their economies and territory.

Accordingly, the International Human Right Declaration emphasizes the right to an adequate standard of living, including access to food, water, healthcare, and education. These rights are essential for poverty eradication efforts, as they empower individuals and communities to break free from the cycle of poverty and improve their quality of life. Ending poverty is an anchor purpose of WSANDN due to the fact that poverty is the root cause of many problems in the world. Ending Poverty aswell as Funds and Agencies provide more information on our efforts and institutions tackling the issues of poverty

On the hand the International Human Right Declaration and other legal efforts, the WSandN establishes a framework for protecting the fundamental rights and dignity of individuals, regardless of their nationality or background. Through international human rights treaties and conventions, it sets standards to ensure that all individuals are treated with fairness and equality. Also addressing human rights violations by providing better mechanisms for accountability and redress, allowing individuals and communities to seek justice for human rights abuses.
